Competition

Competitions are a fun way to improve your dancing and gauge your progress. In the swing community a popular form of competition is the Jack & Jill (J&J).

In a J&J competition men and women are randomly paired. They will then dance to a random selection of swing songs and be judged as a couple. It's a great way to test out your lead and follow skills while meeting new people. Many people in Kansas City travel to World Swing Dance Council events around the country to compete in National J&J competitions. There are a few within easy road trip distance (Tulsa, St. Louis). For those who aren't quite ready for that level of commitment there is the KC J&J Progressive, a once a month J&J competition for Amateur dancers. Watch our events for it!
